Gabrielle Ide Cinanni was a beautiful, vibrant girl who shared her wisdom by always living passionately despite the daily impact of congenital heart disease and pediatric stroke. She was only five years old when she passed away unexpectedly in her mother's arms due to the complications of CHD. Gabrielle's Ride will continue her legacy of passion and hope through our commitment to the children who share her challenges every day...
Dear Gabrielle's Ride Community,
We regret to inform you that our registration is not high enough this year to justify incurring the considerable costs of running Gabrielle's Ride. We therefore must cancel this year's signature event on July 17th, 2016 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.
While this was a very difficult decision to make, we know it is the right decision. We have always prided ourselves on being an organization, run entirely by volunteers, that is fiscally responsible. It has always been a key priority to keep our expenses low, fundraising high and be accountable for every sponsorship dollar, in-kind donation or donation of time.
stay tuned for future fundraising opportunities/announcements.
On behalf of the entire team at Gabrielle's Ride, we thank-you for your support!
What is Gabrielle's Ride
Gabrielle's Ride is an important charity cycling event that was inspired by the life of Gabrielle Ide Cinanni and takes place annually in Oakville, Ontario.
Funds raised by this event are used to support the SickKids Foundation and are used for life saving research, the development of social programs, and the support of families affected by congenital heart disease and pediatric stroke.
Gabrielle's Ride will share her story of passion and hope through our commitment to the children who share her challenges every day. Congenital, heart disease is the most common birth defect affecting one in 100 children. One in 1,500 newborn babies and one in 25,000 children will suffer a stroke. We are at the greatest risk of stroke during our first week after birth than at any other time in our life! When children are born with a heart defect (congenital heart disease) their risk of having a stroke is further increased. More children die every year from congenital heart disease than from all forms of childhood cancer combined and pediatric stroke is more common than pediatric brain tumours.
To date, Gabrielle’s Ride has raised nearly $200,000 for SickKids Foundation. We have supported the World's First Cardio-Embolic Symposium as well as the World’s First Cardio-Embolic Fellowship Program! This year, we are excited to announce that we are developing a Children’s Camp Experience for children affected by congenital heart disease and stroke. We will sponsor these children, as well as a sibling, to participate in a weekend-long camp experience in Northern Ontario at Camp Tawingo. Together we are improving the lives of children and families across Canada who face the challenges of heart disease and stroke.
Every year, Gabrielle's Ride will give all members of the community, from elite cyclists to families and children, the opportunity to ride in support of the thousands of children in Canada who live with the impact of congenital heart disease and pediatric stroke.
Gabrielle's Ride will give all members of the community, from elite cyclists to families and children, the opportunity to ride in support of the thousands of children in Canada who live with the affects of congenital heart disease and pediatric stroke.
In order to ensure Gabrielle's Ride is a success we require many dedicated volunteers.
