About Gabrielle's Ride

Gabrielle's Ride is a charity cycle that was inspired by the life of Gabrielle Ide Cinanni and takes place annually in Halton.

Funds raised by this event are used to support the SickKids Foundation and are used for life saving research, the development of social programs, and the support of families affected by congenital heart disease and pediatric stroke.

Gabrielle's Ride will share her story of passion and hope through our commitment to the children who share her challenges every day. Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect affecting one in 100 children. One in 1,500 newborn babies and one in 25,000 children will suffer a stroke. We are at the greatest risk of stroke during our first week after birth than at any other time in our life! When children are born with a heart defect (congenital heart disease) their risk of having a stroke is further increased. More children die every year from congenital heart disease than from all forms of childhood cancer combined and pediatric stroke is more common than pediatric brain tumours.

To date, Gabrielle's Ride has raised nearly $200,000 for SickKids Hospital and supported the World's First Cardio-Embolic Symposium as well as the World's First Cardio-Embolic Fellowship Program! Together we are improving the lives of children and families across Canada who face the challenges of heart disease and stroke.

Every year, Gabrielle's Ride will give all members of the community, from elite cyclists to families and children, the opportunity to ride in support of the thousands of children in Canada who live with the impact of congenital heart disease and pediatric stroke.
